Open Loop India program: Roundtable on the Role of Stakeholder Engagement in Implementing Human-centred AI
Date: Tuesday 11th October 2022
Time: 11:00 – 16:00 IST
Led by: Laura Galindo (Open Loop team at Meta) Sunil Abraham and Abhishek Jain (India Policy team at Meta) and Kazim Rizvi, Kamesh Shekar, Shruti Shreya from The Dialogue (India-based Think Tank).
On 11 October 2022, Open Loop launched a new policy prototyping program in India at an in-person Roundtable in New Delhi with a selected group of multi stakeholder experts from different sectors (a number of civil society organizations, academia, industry, NASSCOM and UNESCO) to share insights on the role of stakeholder engagement in the implementation of the principle of ‘human- centric’ AI across a company and the AI system life cycle in India.
The Open Loop consortium will publish a brief discussing the insights shared by participants during the roundtable. The insights and learnings will also inform the upcoming report synthesizing the Open Loop program in India next year.
This new policy prototyping project will guide and enable companies in India to implement the AI principle of human centricity, as enshrined in the national AI principles of India, and in a way that accounts for local and regional cultural factors, with an emphasis on stakeholder engagement.
Participating companies (including a number of startups in India in four sectors: healthcare, finance, education and agriculture) will test a framework and operational guidance for the implementation of the principle of human-centred AI through a series of prototyping tasks with a focus on stakeholder engagement.
